Business Problem

Goodyear’s distribution center in Santiago, Chile needed software to route tires through cranes, vulcanization machines, and other equipment while maintaining traceability. The facility relied on out-of-the-box Microsoft tooling but lacked a cohesive application to coordinate the flow.

Non-Technical Solution Summary

Working with a team of developers, we built a WinForms-based control application that leveraged MSMQ and SQL Server to coordinate routing decisions. The solution kept operators informed, synchronized with PLC signals, and provided a dependable interface for managing equipment interactions.

Technical Architecture and Implementation

Application Stack

  • WinForms client built in C#/.NET Framework for operator interaction.
  • MSMQ for reliable messaging between services and equipment controllers.
  • SQL Server for state, tracking, and reporting.

Integration

  • Interfaces with gantry cranes, vulcanization machines, and other PLC-driven equipment.
  • IIS-hosted services for centralized configurations and data access.
Key Features
  • MSMQ-backed messaging for resilient routing commands.
  • WinForms UI for operators with real-time status updates.
  • SQL Server persistence for traceability and reporting.
  • Integration with multiple equipment types across the DC.
Results and Impact

The DC gained reliable routing control and visibility across critical equipment. Using out-of-the-box Microsoft components kept the solution supportable while meeting performance requirements for tire handling workflows.
